Cary leads the way in least housing cost burdened city in the county

Amongst 167 cities analyzed in a recent study, Cary, NC led the way as being the least housing cost-burdened city in the country with nearby Raleigh coming in at number 5.

The study examined how housing cost-burdened relates to someone’s total housing costs as a percent of their income. The Department of Housing and Urban Developments rates families that spend over 30% of their income on housing as being housing-cost burdened and those spending more than 50% of their income as severely housing-cost burdened.

According to the estimates performed by SmartAsset, Cary homeowners have done a good job finding affordable housing that less than 15 percent spend over 30 percent of their income on housing. This makes them some of the most financially flexible in the nation homeowners in the United States.

This kind of positive economic news is what is driving many companies that are looking to bring their corporate presence to the Triangle including Amazon and Apple which are still looking at spending billions of dollars and adding thousands of jobs to the area.
